Pioneer Hospital Closing After Last Minute Negotiations Fail

Oneida, TN (2016-07-01) Negotiations with a potential buyer for Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott have reportedly failed and the facility will official close.

Negotiations between Pioneer Health Services of Magee, MS and an undisclosed buyer have reportedly failed and the corporate office has notified the local facility it will cease operations.  According to Pioneer Hospital CEO Tony Taylor, the corporate office notified him to close the facility at 7 p.m. tonight; however, for all intended purposes, the facility was already closed and staff will close the doors before then.

Earlier today, either Pioneer Health Services or the potential buyer reportedly paid several utility bills that had been months in arrears, as negotiations seemed to be on-track for finalizing the sale.  However, without explanation, the corporate office gave the directive to close the facility without any official announcement or reason.

Late yesterday, the local hospital notified the state it was negotiating the sale of the facility to an unnamed buyer, and requested the state grant it an extension on its closure date.  The state reportedly agreed to the extension, and negotiations went forth in full earnest Friday morning.
